Building Mediascapes
Extend your world
Designers, explorers, developers, gamers: here's where you get your hands on the right tools to create and share your own mediascapes.
Make a simple mediascape in your browser
You can start building your own mediascapes on the web right away with the mscape wizard. Easy and quick templates will let you create your own walks, guides and treasure hunts. Have a good story to tell about your neighborhood? Put it on the map, so that each chapter plays back in the right place.
For playback, you'll need a compatible device with the mscape player software installed.

This is the fastest and simplest way to begin making mediascapes. All you have to do is choose the kind of mediascape you want to make and pick a few locations. When you're finished, you can save it to your mscapers account. Then just download your mediascape and load it on your device.
Build a fresh mediascape on your PC
When you're ready to create more advanced mediascapes, it's the mscape Maker that really lets you get your ideas out there. First download the mscape Installer to your Windows XP or Vista computer. The installer includes the mscape Library, Maker, Tester and Player.

Yosemite in the mscape Maker.
The Maker is the desktop application for creating mediascapes. Inside the Maker you can combine maps, media and scripts into any kind of location-based experience you can imagine. It supports direct placement of audio/video/image files onto the maps, a light scripting language for logic/programming and Flash and HTML for interface design.
Learn by doing
Mediascapes are wide open for you to investigate from every angle. So the fastest way to get started is to download a training mediascape (or any mediascape you're interested in), select it in the Library, choose ‘edit’ and it'll open in the Maker so you can see how it works.

You're on your way to becoming a mediascape builder. Make something simple at first, then take the time to go out and play.
And when you're ready to share what you've made, you should upload it!
Just visit your personal page by clicking on your login name up top (That's right… you'll have to register first before you can upload), then choose “upload a new mediascape” under My Mediascapes.
