Description

Bristol Short Film Walk is a mediascape specifically located in and around the harbourside area of Bristol, UK. The piece is experienced during a walk from College Green to Brunel’s Buttery, passing Peros Bridge, The Thekla, and Bristol Docks along the way. The user stops at each location on the walk to watch a short film. The films have been made by Bristol-based people and have a connection to the place they have been located in. To read my notes on how I made this mediascape follow this link Short Film Walk Notes

Setup instructions

Set up instructions Your IPAQ should be GPS enabled and you should have downloaded the Mediascape Client software and the Bristol Short Film Walk mediascape. You also need the flash player to play the movies. This is available from the flash website. IMPORTANT: Set your IPAQ system preferences so that • your screen orientation is landscape • it will not automatically shut down when not in use (this will crash the application and cause problems) • your wireless connection is turned off so you are not interrupted every time your IPAQ detects a network

Go to Watershed Media Centre on the harbourside to start. Once there, load up the Bristol Short Film Walk: 1) go to start and scroll down to programs and double click HP Mediascape Client 2) go to file and open script 3) double click on Bristol short film walk to open it 4) go to view and then full screen

You are now ready to begin, follow the instructions on screen.

NB. You need to do the walk in order.
