Description

The Southville Mediascapes Project is developing layered community narratives, starting with the Southville: Locating Reminiscence project to create a Wartime Childhood mediascape. Walk around the streets of Southville in Bristol and hear the reminiscences of the people who lived there during world war 2.

Setup instructions

The mediascape is designed so that the located stories are shown on the map of the area. Simply walk towards each of the pins shown on the map to listen to the stories. The walk was originally designed to start and end at the Southville Center. Do drop in for coffee if you have a chance.

Credits

The people involved were:
CLASS - a lifelong learning group that has been going for over 20 years, and which meets weekly at the Southville Centre. Their interests are centred around Bristol and local history, but the group is open to much broader areas of research and learning. Members of CLASS recorded and edited their wartime childhood memories based in Southville, Bedminster and Redcliffe to create a landscape of digital stories using mobile technology.
Clodagh Miskelly (was UWE, now freelance facilitator & producer for participatory research & media)
Constance Fleuriot (was Mobile Bristol/university, now featherhouse independent research)
Katie White (Southville centre’s Green Spaces Heritage Project worker http://www.southvillecentre.org.uk/)
Kirsten Cater (University of Bristol)
Stuart Martin, Paul Marsh & Ben Clayton (HP Labs)
