Riot 1831!
Riot 1831! is a voice-play dramatisation of true events. Each scene is written for a specific location within Queen Square in Bristol, England. Move around the square to listen to the everyday stories and accounts of the rioters who protested in in that actual square for three days in 1831.
The riots occurred when thousands of Bristolians took to the streets in revolt against the defeat of the Reform Bill in the House of Lords. At the height of the unrest almost all the buildings in Queen Square were burnt to the ground. Hundreds of protesters died, almost 90 were sent to prison and four were hanged.

Once you are in Queen Square begin the mediascape by tapping on the screen. Walk around the entire central pedestrian area of the square to trigger the different stories. The mediascape is audio only and so you do not have to look at your device once it has started. To skip a story press the right cursor button. To pause the mediascape press the up cursor button.
