Description
‘dirty weather’ was a soundwalk that explored ideas of collective memory. A mixture of location sound, processed recordings,music and narration guides listeners on a walk around a town that celebrates its past more than its present. The narrators text was sourced from interviews with local residents, archived news stories and ‘The Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner’ (reputed to have been inspired by Coleridges visit to Watchet harbour).

Watchet is found on the north coast of Somerset near Minehead.

By car it can be reached along the A39 from Bridgwater or the A358 from Taunton and there are a number of pay-and-display carparks. There are also regular Buses from Taunton. The Mscape starts outside the front door of library which can be found at the end of the Esplenade. Once you are outside the library, load the Mscape on to your portable device and face out towards the sea. The audio in the Mscape will guide you the rest of the way, there are no visuals displayed on the device as part of this experience.
