A mediascape to help elderly people to remember
Place: Callús, Barcelona, Spain.
Language: Catalan.
On the framework of a Two days event for elderly people about how to make memory work We(Fundació Aplicació, and Itinerarium) created a mediascape which was a clues game that consisted in organizing groups of three people (aged more han 65) that were invited to experience the search for 5 specimen of remedial herbs which were hidden near a path of about 750 meters.

Setup instructions

The mediascape experience was in the village of Callús, Barcelona, Spain, near the Cardener river ans Sant Mateu's Bridge.
Participants went to the starting point marked in the map as "sortida".
When they approached one of the clues, the speakerphone increased the audio level till a screen appeared on the PDA with three clues for that particular place:
An audio explanation about the medical characteristics of the plant
A photograph of the plant
And a small bag containing the herb already dried that the participants had to smell.
It was interesting to see how they delivered trying to find out which herb was...
They also approached two sites of special interest:
One, a bridge near a small river where hey could see images and a video of how that bridge had changed.
The other point was the place where cords were made years ago in an artisan mode. A three minutes video allowed them to remind them of a traditional job.
The mediascape ended having a picnic all together with traditional meals which are not usual nowadays: bread with wine and sugar and bread with olive oil and salt.
